Owl Always Love You Cupcakes

Look familiar?  We posted these adorable owl cupcakes a few months ago.  But they have had a Valentines make over.  Aren’t they so fun?!  And this time they come with an equally adorable gift tag, so you can give them away.  I bet just about anyone would be your Valentine for one of these cupcakes.

Seriously, I can’t believe that we just packed up the Christmas decorations {most of it is done at my house, but there is still some lingering} and we are on to Valentine’s Day.  It will be here before I know it, so I am getting ready at my house.  My kids live for Holidays, and so we basically just move from one right into the next.  It is how they tell time I think.  After any birthday or holiday the guaranteed question of the day is what holiday or birthday is next.  We don’t have any birthdays in our family between New Years and Valentines Day, so we are just going to be focusing on February 14th until the 15th of February.

Owl Always Love You Cupcakes

Ingredients:

18 cupcakes
Pink Frosting (Can even use a store-bought white frosting with just a little of food coloring added in)
36 Oreo cookies + extras in case they break or do not split clean
36 Junior Mints
36 pink candy corn
18 red M&Ms

Directions:

Split the Oreos, keeping the cream in tact on one side. (This will not work perfectly every time. Keep extras on hand. I found that twisting makes a cleaner separation.)

Gently push Junior Mints into the cream of each cookie. Don’t squish the mint. (Play around with different positions to give each “owl” its own personality.)

Use a knife to smooth frosting onto the tops of the cooled cupcakes. Place the cookies, cream side up, on the middle of the cupcakes, making sure that the eyes are oriented the way you want. Press gently.

To make the ears, press 2 candy corns into the cupcakes above the “eyes”, pointing down. These should hang over the edge of the cupcakes, but be sure to press them into the frosting where possible to make sure they adhere well.

Lastly, press 1 red M&M on its side between and slightly below the cookie “eyes” as beaks.

Now find your special valentine to share these with.

Don’t you just love these cupcake boxes (found them at Michaels).  They are perfect for giving cupcakes away to loved ones or friends.  We have a tag for both.  We wouldn’t want any unintended confessions of love.  😉  So there are 2 different gift tags that you can download.  And really, the gift tag can be used with anything.  So if you can’t find the time to make cupcakes and all you have is a bag of candy, go a head and attach the gift tag for a more personalized treat.
