Meatball Sliders

If you are looking for a fun way to serve up appetizers for your next big game day then look no further.  I have seen this idea floating around the blogosphere lately and couldn’t wait to try it.  Taking a meatball sub and making it miniature {so fun} is like Christmas for my oldest daughter.  We eat meatballs in many different ways (meatball subs, spaghetti and meatballs, sweet and sour meatballs, etc)  and she is just thrilled with the latest addition of meatball sliders.  And I quote “They are so little and anything that is little is just cuter than when it is big.” -7 year old girl.  So there you go, they are just cuter than a regular sub.

I always use homemade meatballs {more on that in the coming weeks} but you could use any store bought variety.  These are so quick and easy and give a little bit of substance to a game day spread.  Of course if you have a 7-year-old you may be making sliders instead of subs for dinner. 😉

Meatball Sliders

Ingredients:

24 meatballs
jar of spaghetti sauce
8 hotdog buns
6 slices of provolone cheese
2-3 Tbls melted butter (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400.

Heat spaghetti sauce over med heat in a saucepan and add in the meatballs.  Cut each of the hotdog buns into thirds.  Cut each slice of cheese into quarters.

Place a meatball and a piece of cheese on the bottom half of each bun and place on a baking tray.  Place the top half of the bun on top of the cheese.  (Slightly press down so that it will stay in place.)

If you want, now you can brush the tops of each roll with melted butter.  This will just add a little shine to the tops of the sliders, but it is completely optional.

Toast sliders in the oven for about 8-10 minutes.  They should be slightly toasted.

  1. These look so yummy! Great idea! And I agree with your 7 year old – food should be fun, and little food is more fun than big food! (Unless it’s lasagna, of course.)

  2. Oh Yum!!! I am going to make these for dinner tomorrow night. This post is making me hungry!
