Summer Slushies

Everyone needs a good Slushy in the summer – and these Summer Slushies are easy and delicious.  Kids love them and it is so easy you can let everyone chose their flavor and enjoy their favorites.  It is just like a trip your neighborhood 7-11, but better!!

With so many options which will you try first?  There is a tie at our house for the Root Beer and Orange Soda flavors.

Summer Slushy Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup water

1/2 cup sugar

1 (12 oz) bottle or can of soda – any flavor.  We used Orange,  Ginger Ale,  Strawberry, and Root Beer.

Directions

In a saucepan, combine water and sugar.  Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.  Bring to a boil for 1 minute.

Remove from heat and stir in soda.  Pour into a 2 quart container.  Cover and freeze  for 2 hours, then stir.  Return to freeze overnight or until completely frozen.

When ready to serve, break up mixture with a heavy spoon or fork.

Spoon into cups and serve immediately.  Makes approx. 6 servings (2/3 cup).
